I'm surprised that no one is focused on the fact that providing law enforcement training to the deputies out here is a new development, but as for trailers, how DID we live before Wikipedia: "The term "trailer" comes from their having originally been shown at the end of a film programme. That practice did not last long, because patrons tended to leave the theater after the films ended, but the name has stuck. Trailers are now shown before the film (or the A movie in a double feature program) begins."

Meanwhile, the fine print on my ticket stub warned that the showtime indicated the start of "pre-feature material," another way of saying, you're paying $7 to watch commercials... (for shoes, soda, hair products, military service, and THEN other movies...). I think maybe I'll become one of "those people" who consistently arrives twenty minutes late just to avoid this crap.

I always wondered about where "trailer" came from, too. I'm in the "preview" generation. Maybe some young reader out there can enlighten us!

Preview? I thought my generation was the last one to use this word. All I hear now is trailer. Just where this came from I don't know.

I find flip-flops to be the ONLY acceptable male sandal. Unless I was actually some sort of rafting guide. But if you must get some sort of highly-ventialted footwear, avoid "crocs" at ALL COSTS. Those shoes should only be worn by vet techs.
